01About us

The Guist family, 11th generation

The farm is more than 270 years old and sits on a rise in the Carinthian Lesachtal, framed by the imposing peaks of the Carnic Alps with a sweeping view down the valley. Calling this place home is not only a great piece of luck — it is a way of life.

Elisabeth and Martin run the Guist family farm in the 11th generation since it was first recorded in writing. With a feel for the whole picture, the necessary long view, and as close to nature as the many generations before them, they look after the farming and forestry, the animals, the buildings, the processing of their produce — and their holiday guests. Together as a family business, where each of the three generations living on the farm contributes something valuable, they make their organic mountain farm something you can experience.

02Staying at the Ederhias

Solid wood, mountain views and fresh bread from the wood-fired oven

Whether a room or an apartment, in the farmhouse or in the log house next door — whichever you choose, your holiday on the organic mountain farm will stay with you. You sleep in rustic, traditional solid-wood rooms, largely furnished by the carpenters of the house and the surrounding area. With a view of the mountains around, of the farm's own chapel, of the meadows where the animals graze, and down into the valley. Let the calm and freshness of the mountains inspire you, let the warmth of the people here rub off on you, and be thoroughly spoilt. When the farm parlour serves as the breakfast room each day, filled with the most delicious homemade and regional produce, that is lived regionality — and you can taste it. And the scent of freshly baked farmhouse bread from the wood-fired oven drifting through the house makes the holiday day perfect.

03Slow Food Travel

The taste of organic meadow milk

Ten dairy cows share around 10 hectares of untouched mountain pasture at 1,100 m above sea level. What comes of it lands on the table at the Slow Food breakfast — honest, fresh and made with a great deal of heart.

04The Lesachtal

Europe's most unspoilt valley

Winter

Set off straight from the door by mountain bike, on snowshoes or on touring skis, and experience the mountains as they are — original and real. Simply head out and feel the untouched nature of the Lesachtal. Flowering meadows or snow-covered fields, depending on the season. Steep slopes, dense forests and striking summits as far as the eye can see. Europe's most unspoilt valley earns that title. Fresh water bubbles from countless springs and feeds the small mountain lake in the Obergail valley, which on hot days invites you in for a refreshing swim.

05Something for you

Yoga at the farm

What began as “doing a bit of yoga now and then” has turned into a passion. Together with my sister Helga, it is now possible to do something good for body, mind and soul here at the farm a few times each summer.

Alongside that: fresh natural skincare, and workshops and small retreats at the farm from time to time.

What our guests say

A very restful holiday with clean rooms. I would particularly like to mention the lovely hosts and the wonderful view. The Trueffelhang team thanks you for a restful holiday.

Astrid

Dear Elisabeth, dear Martin, dear Ederhias family. We spent wonderful days with you, full of calm and nature, but also with great experiences and conversations we valued.

Anja Geelhaar

Dear Elisabeth, dear Martin, dear “extended” Guist family — we've long known that the Lesachtal is a very special corner of the Alps. After all, we have now been to this valley 11 times.

Sandra & Tobias Goldschmid

Three years without the Lesachtal — we simply had no choice, it was high time again. However long and arduous the journey, we had to visit our second home — and book with Elisabeth.
